If you’re lucky, the writer gives you given circumstances, a moment before and a rough thought life. The job is to go deeper than the page and keep going. Actors get frustrated when a small discovery takes a long time; in the sessions you’ll see what happens when the light turns on and the actor gets to write a new chapter for the character. Every discovery, big or small, is a piece of the person you’re building.
