Dearing Acting Studio
Teen acting classes in Phoenix · Ages 11 to 17
Confidence teens build in this room
translates to every room.
Actors at the highest level train here.
And so does everyone else.
The quarterback, the theatre kid, the homeschooler and the teen with an agent all take the same class. And it works.
“Thank you Matt for being there to give me guidance and opening my eyes to how much more I can learn to be a better actress.”

Script
A writer’s job is to write the words. An actor’s job is to bring those words to life.
Wed · 5:45-7:45 PM
Improv
When you relax, you can listen. And when you listen, you know what to do.
Or take both.
Two halves of the same pie.
Great script should look and feel like improv. Like you are making it up as you go.
Great improv should look and feel like a play you have rehearsed, memorized and blocked.
The two feed each other, and teens who take both grow faster. $370 a month for both, $80 less than separately.
Every quarter closes with a showcase. Every student performs, every student gets a one-on-one evaluation, and families are welcome.

The why
Why there are no levels.
Mastery-level training means the perspective of never-ending growth. A first-year and a fifth-year can be in the same class, and both leave better. Nobody gets the same note.
Why we teach listening.
Acting is reacting. The skill under every scene is listening at a high level. The same skill is under every conversation a teenager will ever have, with a teacher, a coach, a parent.
Why every class is on camera.
We believe in the game tape. The teaching is recorded, the class is recorded, and the recording lives in their private actor portal.
What we care about
Have teens from this studio gone on to Disney? Yes.
Have famous people trained here? Yes.
Will your teen be a better actor? Of course they will.
These outcomes are a byproduct of the training. They are not what we care about.
What we care about is your teen.
The impact this training has in every area of their life: a better student, teammate, friend. Someone who can speak in front of a class, or stand up for themselves.
When a student tells us they landed the part or signed with an agent, the answer is always the same: of course you did. We expected it. We do not promise it. We know people who do the work and stay consistent are going to find success. They always do.
$225 a month a class, $370 for both. Ages 11 to 17.

Why we train the way we do
We are the club sports of acting.
Rec league is fun, and it has a purpose. Club is fun too, but the focus is different. Club is where you go to get better.
So the class is built like a set and a stage. Costumes and props come in, scenes get staged, and everyone gets the coaching, lead or not.
The showcase is when the lights come on and you see where you really are. In Improv the group puts up the improvised play, the form the highest level improvisers strive for, and we teach it to everybody.
If they’re shy.“I’ve never been able to break out of my shell until I started these classes. The teachers really pay attention to the individual needs of each student. I’m making friends and having lots of fun.”
If they’re nervous about the first night.“I walked in week 1 nervous and walked out that SAME NIGHT feeling confident, excited and thrilled for the next class and what I learned!”
If they’ve done theatre already.“She has done theatre for the last couple of years and wanted to get some professional help. Dearing has been just that.”
If an agent sent them.“We are so happy my daughters agent recommended Dearing Acting Studio.”
If they need their people.“I’ve made great friends at the studio. Everyone there is nice and supportive.”
If you want to see it yourself.“My son LOVES the atmosphere and support that Dearing provides. He has grown so much as an actor and as a young man.”
“Matt and Brian are amazing acting coaches and have helped me grow in my confidence, public speaking, and overall acting skill.”
