Fear is a Liar

Fear is a Liar

In this episode we have special guest and Dearing student Dakota George on the mic with Brian, Matt, and Joey. The episode is about how Fear is a Liar. This was definitely one for the books! Full of laughs, poorly timed sound effects, and life advice about tackling your fears on the stage.

The Definition of Fear

Matt has a whole chapter in his new book about fear. Many people refer to fear using the acronym, False Evidence Appearing Real. In other words, fear is a liar! That being said, there are healthy fears and unhealthy fears.

In this episode, Dakota talks about his feeling of “not being ready.” This is an unhealthy fear because of the amount of training he has been through. We believe strongly that failure is our greatest teacher.

That being said, the only way to grow and overcome his fear of doing an improv show is to JUST DO IT!

Healthy Fear

A healthy fear is something that we can place to protect ourselves. For example, a husband may have a fear of getting a divorce. Because of this, he protects himself from being alone with another woman.

This would be a healthy fear that protects him from temptation.
