Greg and I first met on a play, years before he was a student here. He remembers the feeling of that show, the joy and the pride, as the moment he realized what he loved: going deep into a character and connecting with the people around him. His father saw the talent in him early, and Greg knew he had to go find it for himself. He’s trained with us on and off for several years since, and what keeps him in it is the truth that comes with an actor’s process. Here’s his Dearing Story.
In Greg’s words
Why do you keep coming back?
“It was the truth. You didn’t just give us the answers. You guided me, and you believed in us.”
How has your mindset changed?
“This studio has changed the way I look at all things. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, just pay attention. At any given moment you should be learning. Learning and studying.”
The teacher’s job is to help you find it, never to shove it down your throat. Greg noticed. That’s the whole method in two sentences, and he said it better than I do.
Your next step
We guide. We don't hand you the answer.
