Phoebe trained with us for six years, through Desert Mountain High School and out the other side. She started in improv, performed on both the teen and adult comedy troupes, and did the Masterclass scene study, which is the deepest work we do. Then she went to Columbia College Chicago to study comedic writing and performance, with arts management alongside it. Here’s her Dearing Story.
In Phoebe’s words
How has your process changed as an actress?
“It has been so helpful to be in an environment where everyone is so hard working and cares so much about their craft. Everyone grows and changes. This place changes you, both for acting and for personal growth.”
How has the studio impacted you?
“This studio has had a huge impact on my life. I could go on and on. I have learned such valuable communication skills, and it has taught me how to navigate my relationships. Here at Dearing you teach empathy and kindness. I have learned how to express my feelings and release judgment.”
Communication, empathy, relationships. Notice that none of those are acting words. They’re what the acting is for.
