Recovering from an Emotional Shoot

Recovering from an Emotional Shoot

Welcome back to another episode of Mornings with Matt, the Dearing Acting Studio Podcast! Today we have special guest Elizabeth Selby on to talk about Recovering from an emotional shoot as an actress.

Mindset

An actors mindset is the key to future success. Having the right perspective will help you to find consistent work in this industry. Recovering from an emotional shoot is much easier when you frame it correctly in your head afterwards. The big question that came up was, “do you work to live, or live to work?” Technically the same thing, however framing it one way you feel drained and unsuccessful. The other you feel proud and empowered to pursue your dream.

Expenses

One of Elizabeth’s questions was, “how do you correctly track your income as an actor?” This can be tricky as there are many different ways you can set yourself up for this. In Matt’s book, “Acting is my Day Job” there are sheets and advice for how to make the most out of your expenses and revenue as an actor. When you hit a certain level of success, the best way to keep yourself safe is to hire an accountant who manages your funds.
